What is my Available to Spend balance?

Updated at December 12th, 2023

The Available to Spend balance is the amount remaining in your account after accounting for funds allocated to your bills and goals. Your goals, bills, and Available to Spend reside within the same account. Your account balance is what is used to determine if you have sufficient funds for a given transaction, not the balance of a specific goal, bill, or Available to Spend.

Will you stop me from spending more than what's in my Available to Spend?

No, we don't stop you from spending your money. If you spend more than your Available to Spend shows available at that moment, the transaction would still be approved as long as your total account balance was sufficient for the transaction and you are not exceeding any spend limits. You may see your Available to Spend calculation decrease, even to a negative number. When that happens we suggest you do one of the following:

  • Assign the transaction that caused your Available to Spend to go negative to a Goal or Bill
  • Re-allocate planned funds from a goal or bill to your Available to Spend to balance it out
  • Deposit more funds to your Zeta Account

Is a negative Available to Spend balance the same as over-drafting my account?

No, having a negative Available to Spend does not necessarily mean your overall account balance is over-drafted. Refer to your overall Account Balance or message your Concierge for balance information.
